Thursday, January 21st - Can't wait 'til tomorrow! Taking the
day off from work for a writing retreat with my writing buddy, Angela. Also get to have dinner with the witty and
adorable Christie Craig, who is coming up from Houston to speak at the Dallas Area Romance Authors meeting this
weekend. Always fun to shirk my responsibilities and write all day. About 10,000 words into my follow-up
ms to "Death, Taxes, and a French Manicure" and it's going great!
Thursday, January 7th
- Icy roads this morning. Yikes! And speaking of weather, it's the calm before the storm . . . Tax season
is about to kick in. Good thing I took my Flintstone's vitamin this morning. The calls are starting to pour in.
Can I deduct my liposuction as a medical expense? Nope. Does my cat qualify as a dependent?
Nope. My husband ran off with the nanny - can I take a tax deduction for all his stupid crap that I took to Goodwill?
Heck, yeah!
Also busy plotting the sequel to Death, Taxes, and a French Manicure and have come
up with some fun ideas. Looking forward to a couple days off from work next week to write.
Friday, January 1st 2010 - Happy New Year!
Impossible to believe it's already a decade into this century. Just two more years until Doomsday! What's the
right thing to wear to armageddon? The holidays were
fun, and somehow both relaxing and busy at the same time. Lots of good times with family and friends, and lots of time
to play and write. Finally saw "The Proposal" and "The Ugly Truth." Probably the last person
on the planet to see them. The dogs got taken on lots of walks and had lots of play time at the dog park. They'll
be bummed when Monday comes and we all head off back to work and school. The hubby bought me some great new books to
read and also some yummy-smelling bath stuff (my favorite place to read is in the tub - it's the only place everyone
will leave me alone!). Looking forward to seeing how this year will unfold . . .
Friday, December 4th - Had a great Thanksgiving and am finally
officially done with the leftovers - thank goodness! Looking forward to dinner with NYT/USA Today Bestselling author
Jodi Thomas tonight with the other DARA board members. Always fun to rub elbows with famous authors : ).
Have a busy month ahead, but fortunately most of the schedule is filled with fun stuff (though there is a dentist appointment
in there somewhere). Ran my web analytics today and the chart indicated that my site has been accessed by something
called Yahoo Slurp as well as various robots and spiders. Yikes! I feel so violated! Or is that a good thing?
Watched the movie "Hamlet 2" over the weekend and about died laughing when the hero sat in front of his computer,
staring at his screen for several minutes, then whispered, "Oh my God. Writing is so hard." Yeaaaaaahhhh.....yuh
think?
Thursday,
November 19th - Yay, it's almost the end of the week! Looking forward to having some time off next week to
spend with the family and get some R&R. Started a dog training course for the puppies last weekend. Learned
a lot about how a dog's mind works. Seems a lot like how a man's mind works. Hmm . . .
Monday, November 2nd- Wow! You just know it's going to be a good
day when you are wearing your new skinny jeans, wondering what the heck you were thinking when you bought them, and
your 15-year old daughter actually says they look good on you! Been busy with revisions and am excited at how the ms
is looking. Can't believe Halloween is already over and we're in the final stretch for the year. Where did
the time go?
Wednesday, October 14th - Exciting
day at work - the Fort Worth SWAT team took down a pair of drug dealers in our parking lot. Can't complain
too much about the distraction of a bunch of hunky cops outside the window . . . Have been working my way through my
annual required 40 hours of continuing education. Urgh. At least the company I went with this year offers some
cool courses on money laundering and computer fraud that have given me some great ideas for writing projects. And
the rain has finally stopped! Yippee! Took the dogs for an extra long walk today while the sun was out.
Thursday, October 1st - Had a great time last
weekend on a writers' retreat with three of my writing buddies. Got a lot of revisions done and enjoyed the great company.
Bought a holiday pumpkin for the porch which, for some unknown reason, Reggie finds terrifying. Silly dog. Tomorrow
night's the big game. Hope it doesn't rain!
Monday,
September 21st - Started off the day by taking Reggie and Junior to the dog park so they could work off some of their seemingly
endless supply of energy - wish they could share some of that energy with me! Am excited about the launch of the
blog for the "Ruby Slippered Sisterhood," this year's gang of Golden Heart finalists. Many thanks to writer
Liz Bemis for setting that up for us!
